Simple Christmas Cookies

Supplies Needed

  • 50g Caster Sugar
  • 175g Plain Flour
  • 100g Soft Butter
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Ginger
  • Icing Sugar/Icing Pens for Decoration (Optional)

If your looking to keep the children occupied for an hour at this very exciting time, then they will love making these simple Christmas cookies! They are a delicious treat for little home bakers, family and guests. They can also make a great gift!


Add the butter and sugar into a bowl and mix. This is the fun messy bit where you rub the mixture together with your fingertips.



Squidgy bit!

Next we need to add the flour, cinnamon and ginger and continue to knead with your hands until you can form a ball. Sprinkle some flour onto a board or clean work surface and continue to knead  until it becomes smooth.

This can now be rolled out to around 1/2 cm thick. We used some Christmas cookie cutters to cut our shapes a star, a bell and a large snowman/gingerbread man. Keep re-rolling and cutting until it is all used up.

Cut your Christmas shapes!

Place these shapes on a non stick baking tray or a greased baking sheet and place in a pre-heated oven at 150 degrees or gas mark 2 for 25 mins. Remove from oven and leave to cool on a wire rack.

We dusted our cookies with icing sugar for decoration, or optionally you could decorate them with icing pens for that extra special. Enjoy!
